Daniela Rus, director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), was recently honored with the Bavarian Minister-President's High-Tech Award. Beyond her achievements in robotics and AI, Rus contributed to the invention of liquid neural networks. This architecture, inspired by the compact nervous system of a millimeter-long worm, can control a vehicle in unknown environments using just 19 control neurons, far surpassing the efficiency of traditional architectures.
